Care Companion
A human-centered redesign of Darmankade’s mobile experience—transforming a skeptical patient base into confident digital-care users through clarity, empathy, and intelligent guidance. This case study explores how the Patient App evolved into a personal healthcare companion with AI-powered symptom analysis, seamless booking, and trust-building doctor interactions. A mobile journey designed to feel safe, warm, and reassuring at every step.
Context
After stabilizing the core web experience, we turned to mobile.
Patients increasingly wanted fast, personal, app-based experiences — not browser sessions.
The goal:
Create a mobile experience where booking, consultation, and symptom analysis felt intuitive, human, and reassuring.
The Challenge
The biggest obstacle wasn’t functionality — it was trust.
Patients were hesitant to book online, let alone share medical information digitally.
We needed to make the experience feel safe, intelligent, and personal from the first tap.
Research & Design Insights
Using analytics and patient interviews, we discovered:
- Patients valued doctor familiarity — they wanted to see faces, not just names.
- Most users wanted guidance, not just a directory — “Who should I see?”
- Mobile booking had to be frictionless and fast, with fewer input steps.

Design Strategy — Clarity, Empathy, and Personalization
The Patient App was designed as a warm, intelligent assistant — not a database.
Core Features
- Personalized doctor recommendations based on past visits and conditions.
- Doctor intro videos to humanize and build trust pre-booking.
- AI-powered Symptom Checker to help users identify potential conditions and get matched with specialists.
- Integrated consultation options (chat, voice, video) for remote care.
- Saved payment details for one-tap rebooking.
The Symptom Checker, validated by medical faculty, achieved 60–70% diagnostic accuracy, becoming a popular gateway feature for new users.
Impact

- Mobile app adoption grew rapidly, becoming the platform’s primary booking channel.
- Consultation conversion rates increased due to seamless flow from symptom → doctor → chat/video.
- The AI tool improved new user acquisition and retention — users came back to re-check or compare results.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Patient App became the most-used part of the Darmankade ecosystem, helping patients access safe online care.
Reflection
The project reaffirmed that trust in healthtech comes from transparency and empathy, not just technology.
By helping users understand their own symptoms, we turned curiosity into confidence — and confidence into care.
